Mesa Ridge High School, Head Coach (C-Squad) 2011-2015
While attending CSU, Jo promoted volleyball by traveling around the state of Colorado to run camps for junior high and high school aged students. She also ran an adult volleyball league and skills training for the city of Ft. Collins.

Playing Experience
Jo graduated from Heritage High School in Littleton, Colorado in 1988. During her three year high school career, she was a three-sport athlete and earned nine Varsity letters. She was a 3-year Varsity letter winner in volleyball and earned numerous accolades, including 1st team All-American honors during her senior year.

Jo attended Colorado State University on a full-ride scholarship and played for the nationally ranked Rams for four seasons. During her time at CSU, her team consistently was ranked in the top 25 in the nation and routinely qualified for the NCAA volleyball tournament. Jo often earned conference level recognition for her accomplishments on the court, and she is still among the career leaders in blocks for the Rams.

Coaching Philosophy
Jo’s coaching style is characterized by using positive reinforcement to create an environment that allows athletes to feel comfortable taking risks and grow as individual players. She develops athletes to be well-rounded players and puts them in positions to experience all aspects of the game. She understands that many life lessons can be learned through the game of volleyball, and she uses her influence and experience to help her players learn about teamwork, perseverance and dedication.

Personal Background
Jo is a third grade teacher in Widefield School District 3. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work and a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education. She is married to Aaron, a high school principal, and has a daughter, Jordan, who currently attends Caldwell University in New Jersey, where she is studying Health Science and playing volleyball for the Cougars. Jordan proudly played for Team Colorado for five seasons.
